Memorial Day 2009

We had such a great Memorial Day this year. Chris wanted to drive up to Cache Valley to visit the place where his grandparents (Brown's) are buried. It is such a beautiful area, and it was such a great cool Spring day. It took us about two hours to get there, but we love road trips, and the scenery was beautiful so the drive went quickly. We stopped in Logan, Utah to eat at an old A&W for lunch and then stopped by Albertson's to pick up some flowers for Grandma's and Grandpa's graves. Huge storm clouds were brewing while we were there, so we explained to Ashley where we were and why we were there, took a few pictures, and then hopped into the car just as it started to pour.

Ashley's New Sandbox

Ashley has wanted a sandbox for quite awhile now. We have been working on getting our side yard completed with steps, grass, sandbox, etc. It has taken us the last few Springs and Summers to finally get to a point where I believe we will get it finished this year. Chris has finished the steps/patio, and now the sandbox. Now we just need to lay the sod, and we will be done! Yeah!

Ashley was playing in her sandbox, but kept telling me how bright it was outside. She said she needed her sunglasses. She's a funny girl with a sassy personality!

My Ears are Still Ringing

A few weekends ago, Chris wanted to take his gun and shoot a few rounds. I've never shot a gun before, because one, I've never taken the opportunity, and two we've never owned a gun until recently. I figured I better learn to shoot it in case one day I need to protect my family. Chris travels quite a bit during certain seasons, and I would feel safer knowing how to shoot. He took me out by Tooele, to a place he and his friends have shot at before. It was out on a dirt road in the middle of no where. On the way we saw horses and Ashley wanted to get out and pet them. She talked about them the rest of the day.

Chris let Ashley ride on his lap down the dirt road and "drive" the car. She thought she was doing such a good job, but Chris wasn't letting her see he still had a hand on the wheel!

This was my first time shooting, and I didn't realize how loud it could be as you can see. I really am not a big fan of shooting, and I actually got really nervous and scared before I let off a few rounds.

I didn't have very good aim, but Chris hit the target numerous times. I'm sure we'll go back again; I've just got to get over my fear of guns.
