What your Friday nights turn into when you have kids....

One Friday night this past Summer, we were trying to figure out what to do as a family, and we realized Ashley had never been to Chuck E Cheese. We thought it was a perfect time to blow a bunch of money on mediocre pizza and tokens, while our daughter had the time of her life!!

Here is Ashley with her cup of tokens. She wouldn't let anyone else carry it the rest of the night.

She became pouty when we told her she had to wait until the pizza arrived to play any more games. She was not a fan of Mom and Dad right about then.

This was her favorite game. She called it the ducky game the whole time we were there. She would hit a button to try to knock down as many ducks as she could before the time ran out.

Chris not wanting his picture taken like usual.

Ashley was so excited to meet Chuck E Cheese and give him a hug.

Ashley was so intrigued by the "show" that Chuck E Cheese and his friends do on stage. We had to video tape her swaying along to the music!

Madison also didn't want to miss the show.

Madison is 8 months old

Madison is getting so big, so quickly. She is really trying hard to crawl. She gets up on her knees and rocks back and forth, but then drops back down onto her tummy. She can pull herself around the house in an army crawl. Her shirts by the end of the day are so dirty.

She loves her big sister Ashley and Ashley can easily make her giggle. They have a great time playing together now that Ashley can get around and can sit up by herself.

Summer Swimming Lessons

This is the first year Ashley has taken swimming lessons. I signed her up for the level one class, however once we arrived on the first day, she was much younger than the other kids. I found out a few days later that she was supposed to be at least three years old to be in the class. Some of the other kids seemed to be at least five or six, so she was a bit behind the other kids from day one.

She was a little reluctant on her first day, but didn't cry and went right to her teacher. During a few of the lessons, she would do exactly what her teacher asked, but other days she would be stubborn and just watch the other kids.

By the last day, her teacher said she had completed each of the requirements to pass the class, but because she wouldn't participate every time he asked, he thought it would be good for her to complete the level one class again.

Visit from Grandma and Grandpa Hathcock

My parents came into town the last week of May to visit and to get out of the Arizona heat. We were so happy to have them. One of the days we took Ashley to the park to feed the ducks and geese.

Ashley was scared of the big geese so Grandpa had to carry her most of the time we were there!

We also went one evening to Ruth's Diner. The weather was perfect and we sat out on the patio and enjoyed the acoustic music.

Ruth's Diner makes super yummy rolls. Ashley stuffed half of the large roll into her mouth at once. We all couldn't stop laughing.

Ashley loved playing Candyland with her Grandma. She still doesn't understand how to play it the right way, but it's fun to watch her make up her own rules and practice her colors.

On Sunday we headed up Millcreek Canyon to go for a short hike and to enjoy nature.

We tried to have a family picture with both our girls and our dogs, but we couldn't get everybody to look at the camera at once!

We also tried to set the timer on the camera to get a group picture, but each time a picture was taken, someone wasn't looking at the camera, or someone was cut out of the picture. This is the best one!

As we drove up Millcreek Canyon, I had my window down to enjoy the cool air. Our dog Nay Nay was sitting on my lap and decided to leap out of the car was we were moving. She has never jumped out of the car, and we have taken her on many car rides. We were going about 30 miles an hour. She was really shaken up and had a bloody lip, but she was ok after a few days. She's one tough cookie!
