July 4th Festivities

We started off a wonderful July fourth weekend on Saturday, the 2nd with the South Salt Lake Parade. It's just down the street from our house so we walked the girls over to the parade to meet up with our friends, the Ahlers.

It's just a small parade, but the girls love it because all of the people in the parade throw candy and they come home with a whole bag full. We joked that it was better than Halloween because the candy comes to you, instead of having to dress up and go door to door!

And here they are fighting over the candy.

On Monday the 4th, we had a ward barbecue. Chris and I headed down early to set everything up. We had a great turn out and a wonderful time with so many people we love.

The Lundberg's were pros at the barbecue.

In every picture we have of Madison from the barbecue, she is eating watermelon.

And more watermelon.

And more....she eventually peed her pants!

Ashley had a great time running around the church lawn with her primary friends.
She has a red face to show for it.

We love our ward building.
Built in 192o, it's absolutely gorgeous, has tons of character, and so much wonderful history.

After dinner we headed out to our side yard to light some sparklers. It's actually about 8:30 pm when these pictures were taken, yet it was still so light outside. We had to do them that early since we were heading out the door to the fireworks.

Rylee's first sparkler since she was too little last year.

Madison was too scared to do them this year. She kept saying they were going to burn her.

We loaded up and headed to the Salt Lake Country Club for their firework show that started at 10 pm. We had made sure the girls got a nice, late nap so they could last until the fireworks were over.

Another wonderful 4th of July. I am so grateful for those that have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice so that we enjoy the freedom we do. I love this country.

Fourth of July Weekend

Since the fourth of July was on a Sunday this year, and we live in the state of Utah, most of the celebration was done on Saturday the third. That morning we walked a few blocks to a small neighborhood parade.

We met up with our friends, the Ahlers, and their extended family, to watch the parade.

Chris has always been a chick magnet. Nothing has changed..............they are just much younger now!

Each of the cars/floats would throw candy out into the crowd for the children to pick up. This was Ashley's and Madison's favorite part of the whole morning.

Chris bought a few sparklers and small fireworks for the kids. Madison was really reluctant to hold the sparkler.

Ashley is at the age that we can't light them fast enough.

Chris lighting a few of the other fireworks in the street.

After the fireworks at the house, we hopped in the car and headed to a parking lot by Sugarhouse Park where there is a large fireworks show. We had a great day together as a family.

On Monday the fifth, Chris had the day off so we loaded up the girls and my sister Camille and headed to the Cottonwood Heights pool. The girls love to swim.
